the EU RAPEX system notified 38 cases in which 42.1% were notified because of the risk of strangulation or other injuries. These 16 items of children’s apparel do not comply with the drawstring regulation. 11 children’s apparel and 2 children’s shoes were notified because they pose a risk of choking and contain small parts which can easily detach and be swallowed by small children. In chemical risks, 6 products contain excessive levels of chromium VI and 2 products exceeded the limit for phthalates. In addition one product was notified because it is highly flammable.
U.S.A.
One children’s nightgown was recalled because it failed to meet federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children. One ski boot was recalled because it posed a fall hazard and risked injury to the consumer.
Canada
There were 6 cases of apparel recalled in Canada. Two feather Halloween costume accessories and two children’s sleepwear were recalled because they do not comply with the flammability regulation. One infant apparel and one children’s apparel were recalled because they contain small parts which can easily detach and be swallowed by small children.
Australia
One children’s sleepwear was recalled because the label is not compliant with the mandatory standard for children’s nightwear and limited daywear, AS/NZS 1249:2003.
