To gain certification for any product it must meet or exceed the regulations and specific product standards applicable to it and whether you see regulations as an assurance of product quality or a necessity they form an integral part of bringing any product to market. Depending on the type of product the number of testing and other procedures involved will vary before it can be released to market. This could range from in house control of all aspects to outsourcing the entire process and from self-certification to full quality control procedures. The procedure to be followed may seem simple if expert in the arena of approvals or completely mind bending if confronted by them for the first time. The route chosen will vary depending on the skills of the organisation, this can be full in house testing to passing the entire project to a suitably qualified organisation, getting on with business and just awaiting the various certifications arriving by post.

It is highly recommended that at the earliest opportunity that specialist advice is sought, such advice could well save both time and money as it is almost certain that the most appropriate route to product certification can be found according to needs and as a result the entire process can be streamlined. The advantages should be obvious, the faster a product can be brought to market the sooner it can be generating revenue for the organisation concerned.

Since achieving compliance can be very complex, the CE-marking conformity assessment, provided by a Notified Body such as CTI-CEM International, is of great importance throughout the entire CE-marking process, from Design Verification, and set up of the Technical File to issuing the Certificate of Conformity.
