QB/T 2880-2016 (CHILDREN’S LEATHER SHOES) WAS INTRODUCED ON THE 1ST OF JANUARY 2017

QB/T 2880-2016 (children’s leather shoes) came into force on the 1st of January 2017 it replacing QB/T 2880-2007.

CTI Analysis

Addition of new safety performance requirement, the standard is clearer about the application of the shank assembly, and has introduced GB 30585 to guarantee the safety of children’s shoes.

Modification of some test method and evaluation clause to make the standard more suitable for the present technology of shoe production and to meet the increasing quality requiremetns of consumers for children’s leather shoes.

Appearance quality 1. Added clause for severe defect judgment. 2. Added exemption clause: Exempt the thinness part measurement in the front bearing area of sole if the shoe size less than 150.
Flexing resistance 1. Modified the evaluation requirement. 2. Added exemption clause: Exempt flexing requirement of shoes with specified stiffness, or the thickness at flexing line of sole is more than 25mm.
Abrasion resistance 1. Modified the evaluation requirement. 2. Added exemption clause: Exempt abrasion requirement if outsole is made of leather / synthetics or artificial leather. 
Peeling strength 1. Added the pull-out strength of upper as substitute for peeling strength if shoes is not suitable to test peeling, and specify the application conditions.
Hardness of outsole 1. Specify test method and requirement for porous materials and solid materials respectively. 2. Added exemption clause: Exempt hardness requirement if outsole is made of leather / artificial leather, or outsole is lamination construction, or the thickness of outsole is less than 3mm. 
Outsole-midsole bond strength 1. Change the method with GB/T 21396.
Pull-out strength of upper 1. New items as the substitute for peeling strength under special condition.
Safety performance 1. New items.2. Shank or any other rigid supporting material is necessary for shoes if heel height above 20mm, and heel breast is above 8mm, however, the height of heel breast should be less than 15mm. 3. Exempt shank requirement if shoes with injection midsole, but the injection midsole should comply with QB/T 4862-2015.
Restricted substance 1. Deleted.

CTI Suggestion

After the 1st of January 2017 the production and sales of Children’s leather shoes should comply with the new version of product standard QB/T 2880-2016.
