NOVEMBER 2014 RECALL OF TOYS AND CHILDREN’S PRODUCTS, STATISTICAL DATA ANALYSIS

According to the EU, the US, Canada and Australia, official data showed that in November 2014 there was a total of 53 recalls of toys and children’s products, of which: 45 toy products, accounting for 84.9 %% of total recall, and eight children’s products, accounting for 15.1 of the total recall %.

The recalled product origin survey data showed, a total of 45 Chinese produced products, accounting for 84.9% of the total recall, last month’s level (in October 2014 that the level was 83.0%).

This month’s analysis found the following reasons for the recall:

Physical and mechanical hazards 81.1%.
Compared with the previous month, the physical and mechanical hazards proportion decreased (in October 2014 the percentage was 97.9%)

Harmful chemical substances 41.5%
Compared with last month, the proportion was significantly higher (2014 in October they accounted for 14.9%)

Product containing small parts (choking hazard) 34%, is still the highest proportion; in addition, because of excessive levels of phthalic toys recalled accounted for 41.5% of the total.

October 2014, the EU recalls the case of the largest recall of toys and children’s products, a total of 30 cases, accounting for 63.8%, followed by Canada, seven cases, accounting for 14.9%, the United States, a total of 5 cases, and finally Australia, recalled 3 toys.
