The EU RAPEX systems notified 24 cases in which 45.8% were notified because of the risk of strangulation or other injuries. These 11 children’s apparel do not comply with the drawstring regulation. 1 baby headband and 7 children’s shoes were notified because they pose a risk of choking and contain small parts which can easily detach and be swallowed by small children. In chemical risks, 5 products exceeded chromium VI permitted content.
Canada
There were 3 cases of footwear recalled in Canada. One children’s shoe was recalled because they pose a risk of choking and contain small parts which can easily detach and be swallowed by small children. Turbo toe overshoe was recalled because their sizes and respective lot numbers were found to not comply with the new CSA Z334-14 standard as such the product may pose a risk to the wearer. Ski boots were recalled because they pose a risk of a fall or other injury.
Australia
There are 3 cases of apparel were recalled in Australia. Two infant’s apparel were recalled because the products do not carry the proper fire hazard information labels which may result in consumers being unaware of the fire danger rating for these products. One children’s apparel was recalled because one or more of the snaps may detach from the garment during normal use and could pose a choking hazard to infants.
